For this first meme I created a new meme about throwing car batteries into the ocean. Like I said in my first paper. The form if this meme changes form meme to meme and to go with that I have used an orignal image and original text for my version. The content of this meme is what stays the same and that means a joke about throwing acar batter into the ocean. This also gets into the stance of this particulatr meme. I was trying to replicate a specific style of meme that I’ve seen a few times but unfortunatly don’t have a good refrenece for. This is a meme that requires the viewer to have already seen other memes of this format to fully understand. It plays with your expectaition of what is supposed to happen in the meme. The picture shows an ocean with no car batteries in it and as we learn from the text none have been thrown into it yet, but in saying “would be a shame if nobody threw a car battery into it” we get a reference to the original meme.
For my second meme, I took the form of the astronaut meme and gave it the context of a car battery meme, fusing the two together. In this version the astronauts discover that the whole world is a car battery, and the ocean is the one hiding this information from the world. This meme requires knowledge of both memes to be fully appreciated but I think there is still some value to be had in only partly understanding what the meme is referencing. To me the bizarreness of my version of the astronaut meme mirrors the bizarreness of the original.
